Travel Vaccinations

global air travel

If you require any vaccinations for travel abroad, please make a double appointment with one of our practice nurses in good time before your departure.

If you are unsure whether you need a vaccination, or you would like clarification on any external travel received, then please make a telephone appointment with one of our practice nurses.

It is essential to make your initial appointment as early as possible – at least 6 weeks before you travel – because you will need to attend a second appointment with the practice nurse in order to receive the vaccinations.

Most vaccines have to be ordered because they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
